The church of Our Blessed Lady, also known among people as Karadjordje’s church, is a building with the cross design feature of the base. It was built of crushed stone and its two sided roof is covered with the old tile. Along the west portal was raised belfry, also made of stone, which at the same time served as a defense tower. Semi circled and shapely, church cupola is covered with battens – oak boards. The cupola is orthogonal from the outside, and semi circled from the inside. The church seems rather rustically, but distinguishes remarkably balanced proportions. Its exterior is whitened. The interior is richly painted and with the engraved rood screen gives out the impression of refinement. Foundation Karadjordjević placed in the church the memorial with the names of warriors from the locality, who died in Balkan wars in 1912. and 1913. Recently built monument to Karadjordje, work of Peter Palavinci, dominates the fortified town. |
