THE WINE DISTRICT OF OPLENAC

The destiny of wine is often similar to the destiny of winegrowers.
From the Romans to Despot Stefan, From Karadjordje to King Peter, vineyards, winegrowers and good wines flourished in this area.

In those times, every householder cultivated the vineyard and for every feast and celebration would bring his wine to the table. Famous wines and even champagne from the winegrowers’ cooperative and the cellars of King Peter and King Alexander reached the finest restaurants of Belgrade, Vienna, and London.

However, up until last few years, Oplenac was forgotten for the world of wine, but time changes and Topola is becoming the Metropolis of Serbian vine again.
